At the age of six, I knew I wanted to work in a field related to technology. I distinctly recall walking in on my first day of Kindergarten and seeing the one translucent blueberry iMac G3 they had in the back of the room. From that day on I was fascinated by it, how did it work and what could I do with it?
That curiosity hit a turning point at 14 when I discovered that same school was selling those very same iMacs in surplus lots for practically nothing. With some leftover Christmas money and parents willing to sacrifice their dining room, I purchased fourteen of them and began refurbishing them to sell individually. This quickly blossomed into a full-time business of cleaning and restoring old school Macs as well as repairing Macs for people in our community.
I began venturing into phone and device repair in high school as the iPhone was making its meteoric rise in popularity, proving to be a profitable addition to the computer refurbishing. By the time I graduated I had amassed a sizable knowledge of repair, but the supply of surplus was drying up, as well as the shrinking demand for older Macs as more people chose to purchase a smartphone or tablet instead.
I eventually started at a different phone repair shop. It was there that I further refined my device repair skills. After a year at that location, I was finally fed up enough to part ways with them. I applied at iRepairFast in 2015, and I’ve been here ever since.
These days I’m not the die-hard Apple fanboy I once was. I still love my MacBook Pro, but my daily driver phone is a Galaxy S8, and my old self-built PC is perfect for the occasional gaming.
